چکیده

We present a new model to describe the unusual elastic properties of compressed emulsions. The response of a single droplet under compression is investigated numerically for different Wigner-Seitz cells. The response is softer than harmonic, and depends on the coordination number of the droplet. Using these results, we propose a new effective interdroplet potential which is used to determine the elastic response of a monodisperse collection of disordered droplets as a function of volume fraction. Our results are in excellent agreement with recent experiments. This suggests that anharmonicity together with disorder are responsible for the quasilinear increase of G and P observed at wc.

Elasticity of Compressed Emulsions.

The elastic shear modulus of monodisperse emulsions is shown to exhibit a universal dependence on droplet volume fraction f when scaled by the Laplace pressure of the droplets, increasing as fsf 2 fcd, where fc ø 0.635, the value of random close packing of solid spheres. Surprisingly the osmotic pressure required to compress the emulsions to increase f is nearly the same as the shear modulus ov...

The dynamics of substitution tensions between fossil energy carriers for gas consumption in Iran's transportation sector on the horizon of 2025

The present paper explains the dynamics of substitution tensions between fossil energy carriers for gas consumption in the transportation sector of Iran in the horizon of 2025 using seasonal space model and Kalman filter approach for the years 2006-2019 in the form of quarterly data. Based on the results; Price elasticity and revenue elasticity of gasoline and gas oil are -0.20, -0.15, 0.27 and...

Local structure controls the nonaffine shear and bulk moduli of disordered solids

Paradigmatic model systems, which are used to study the mechanical response of matter, are random networks of point-atoms, random sphere packings, or simple crystal lattices; all of these models assume central-force interactions between particles/atoms. Each of these models differs in the spatial arrangement and the correlations among particles. In turn, this is reflected in the widely differen...

A Contact Problem of an Elastic Layer Compressed by Two Punches of Different Radii

The elasticity mixed boundary values problems dealing with half-space contact are generally well resolved. A large number of these solutions are obtained by using the integral transformation method and methods based the integral equations. However, the problems of finite layer thicknesses are less investigated, despite their practical interests. This study resolves a quasi-stationary problem of...

تعیین برخی خواص فیزیکی و رئولوژیکی بسته‌های یونجه و کاه در حین فشردگی مضاعف

To reduce storage space and transportation cost for alfalfa and straw bales, recompressing of the bales is recommended. In order to design different units and elements of double compressing device, some physical and rheological properties of desired products were determined. A factorial experiment with a randomized complete block design with three replications was used during the tests. Confine...
